Senior SAP Finance Architect
We're seeking an experienced Senior SAP Finance Architect to lead complex SAP S/4HANA finance transformations for aerospace, defense, government contracting, and other project-based organizations. This role combines deep SAP FI/CO expertise with advanced Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) design, project-based financial management, and cross-platform financial systems integration. You'll translate financial and regulatory requirements into scalable solutions that improve visibility, controls, and decision-making.
Responsibilities
What you'll do
- Lead SAP S/4HANA Finance design and implementation across FI, CO, and PS, including Record-to-Report, Project-to-Profit, and Procure-to-Pay integration
- Lead fit-to-standard workshops and translate financial, operational, and regulatory needs into process designs, configurations, and functional specifications through testing, data migration, deployment, and stabilization
- Architect WBS hierarchies supporting project budgeting, cost collection, commitments, allocations, settlement, revenue recognition, and program reporting
- Integrate SAP PS with FI/CO, procurement, manufacturing, program controls, and applicable Earned Value Management (EVM) solutions
- Design end-to-end finance data flows across SAP and timekeeping, payroll, labor distribution, planning, procurement, and reporting platforms, owning integration requirements, data mappings, and reconciliation controls
- Collaborate with enterprise architects and integration developers on interfaces, APIs, and middleware, and mitigate risks affecting financial accuracy, reporting, and auditability
- Apply government contract finance knowledge, including indirect cost structures and relevant FAR, DFARS, and CAS considerations, to design traceable financial processes and controls
- Advise finance and technology leaders on solution options and tradeoffs, mentor junior consultants, and contribute to estimates and proposals
Required qualifications
What we're looking for
- 10+ years in SAP Finance consulting, enterprise finance transformation, or related implementation roles
- Deep SAP FI/CO expertise in general ledger, cost center and profit center accounting, allocations, and financial reporting
- Strong hands-on experience architecting SAP solutions for project-based operating models, including WBS architecture, project cost structures, and FI/CO integration
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations, conversions, or major finance transformation programs
- Ability to design functional integration requirements across SAP Finance, PS, MM, SD, and external finance platforms
- Knowledge of financial data flows, reconciliations, master data, internal controls, and enterprise architecture tradeoffs
- Experience in A&D, government contracting, or similarly complex regulated/project-based industries, with strong consulting communication and independent delivery skills
Preferred qualifications
Nice to have
- Multiple full-lifecycle SAP implementations, including an S/4HANA transformation
- Deep A&D program finance knowledge and familiarity with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA audit considerations
- Integration experience with timekeeping, labor distribution, payroll, EVM, financial planning, and program management systems
- Knowledge of SAP Integration Suite, BTP, APIs, IDocs, and related integration patterns
- Experience with Universal Journal, Margin Analysis, project settlement, results analysis, and revenue recognition capabilities
- Experience with SAP Group Reporting, enterprise planning/reporting, EVMS, and SAP Finance/PS certifications
